Meet was for 12 noon at Horspath for the reunion lunch. Attendance was excellent with loads of old faces from over the years. We were given stickers to put our names on so we knew who was who but also in case we forgot who we were!! Much merriment, laughing, drinking, chatting and catching up with old mates ensued. A wonderful hot lunch was then served with wine a plenty on all tables followed by a fantastic cheese board and all this for just £20.00.
There were a few speeches and presentations from our chairman Mr Neil Hopper and secretary Jack Pooler during which Ron Macdonald & Bill Faulkner were presented with Quins 100 caps for all of their input and long service to the club.
All ex-team captains in attendance were presented with a special limited edition club tie with thanks for their services over the years.
Keith Latham having already purchased a club tie auctioned his off and Brad Raynor really dug deep donating £55.00 to the charity. An original Quins playing shirt was also sold off for the charity.
Our President Ron Macdonald did a speech and presented the club with a Scottish and Quins themed portrait i.e. Kilt and Rugby kit. You can see this for yourselves as it’s now on display in the clubhouse.
Rich Hayden spoke 10/15 minutes sharing some old stories from over the years with a few jokes thrown in.
As usual on any match day there were a few cry off’s and no shows but the best part of 60 old Quins players turned out. There were also a few who made it for the 2nd half for a chat and a few beers.
A big highlight was that Kike Irrure flew in from Spain for the reunion! Great to see such a lovely old Quin who played with us for many years.
For those that didn’t or couldn’t show for what ever reason unfortunately you’ll never know what a great afternoon you missed so with this in mind and enough support again we could do another fixture in the future.
