We’ve been through an exciting 3 years since moving to our new site at Horspath Sports Ground. Our new home features the incredible World Rugby compliant, floodlit 3G pitch, 3 senior grass rugby pitches, 19 junior rugby pitches and line-marked pitches for baseball, softball, GAA and more. This summer we’ve brought online a beautiful new grass pitch which will be floodlit by the time the new season starts.
In 2020 we formed a 5-year partnership with Oxford Brookes University, the Brookes Quins Rugby Partnership, and the same year, despite the pandemic, we launched our Women’s and Girls’ section. In 2021, we launched our Schools Sports program, INSPIRE, which provides daytime PE lessons and afterschool clubs at Oxford primary and secondary schools.
The result has been a truly remarkable influx of new players; men, women, boys and girls – the largest intake in our history.
There are more exciting plans in the pipeline, for the club and for the site, and this is our time to pause and reflect. To look at our brand, at who we are, and to adopt a new logo that reflects the new unity that exists in our club.
Having explored the origin of the Harlequin, we have stumbled upon a tale of myth and legend and discovered a character who is definitely a little edgier than we understood (see the history on our website)!
We bid farewell to the Harlequin as he was, but we do not forget his past. Nor do we forget, how we got to where we are today. Now, we look to the future, and this new and exciting chapter.
We are Quins.
We are Oxford Quins.
